Car n00b in here... whats this grinding sound?

Everytime I brake, and its only been quite recently, I'm hearing a grinding sound. Sounds kind of like skidding on ice

Anyone know what it might be?

If it only happens when braking, it's quite probable that your brake pads have run out, and you're now putting the metal backing of the pad against the metal brake disk.

Very simple to solve - replace the brake pads, there's a tutorial by Lopez in the archive, here

worn brake pads , get them changed asap
