Hi all I was just wondering if any of you guys had made you own car PC and if so can you share some pics and information on this, I am looking at doing this but am not sure how much it will cost, how hard it is and what I would need ?

What do you want it to do? I've looked into the theory before, but seemed like a lot of hassle when I could buy a device that would do the same thing.
There is an OS designed for car PCs, http://www.aimee.cc/modules/news/, someone mentions it in their sig on here. Might be worth getting this moved to the Motors forum?
Small and quiet computer could be something like the HP e-pc, you're not going to find one new though, 5 year old models can be found on the famous auction site though

I've looked into it. If you're willing to put in the work it seems worth it.
Cost would depend on how much you want it to do and are willing to spend. You can get some very cheap VIA ITX CPU + Motherboard, or go all out with a full entertainment system and a Dual Core Intel chip

How can I get this moved into the motor section ?
I have a laptop that I don't really use the only problem with it is the keyboard does not work you need to plug a USB one in but I cant see why this would be a problem, I was wondering if I could use this as a car PC if so how and what would I need ?

You are in luck. There is a guy in Motors who has done (or is doing?) one. He has a good long thread about it with pictures of the various steps. Have a search.
