So I recently bought a 2004 Ford Focus Ghia that came with a Blaupunkt Travelpilot stereo with built in satnav. When I bought the car the garage informed me there had been an issue with the stereo but it was now fixed. Unfortunately this wasn't the case and the amplifier went after about a week. The garage replaced it in a rush upon my request but sadly the replacement stereo (third party) is of a very low quality, and herein lies my problem...
Since the stereo was replaced I have had difficulties with reception when not in the middle of a city and the overall sound quality is terrible compared to how it was before the amplifier went in the original stereo. I also think that the damage to the amplifier has blown some of the speakers in the car as there is an awful crackling sound when the volume is raised beyond a certain level. I don't know this for certain but I won't know this until I try a new stereo in the car.
So I was wondering if anyone had any advice?
Do I have any grounds to go back to the garage and get them to fix these problems for me or will I have to handle them myself?
If I am going to replace the radio I would like to go back to a Ford radio because I know them to be of a certain quality and I would assume that they would be acquirable for less than a brand new third party stereo. Any advice on getting a second hand Ford radio? Is my best bet to go to a scrapyard and hope that someone has traded in an old Ford?
Finally regarding the speakers. Is it possible to get these replaced? If yes how much might I be looking to pay?
Apologies for the mountain of text. Thanks for you time
