car radio problem...

guys in my girlfriends polo i removed the cassette player and fitted a sony radio over two years ago. 2 weeks ago it sounded like the reception was dropping so i took it out and check the connections. then when i fitted it again the display wont come on but it receives power (it will take disks in and out). since then i picked up a jvc and another sony and i have excatly the same problem. i have checked all fuses and they are fine. the funny thing is when i fit the cassette player it all works. my head is melted with this one and i aint a spark which doesnt help....... anyone any ideas?

try checking the remote live feed and permanent live feed, on my golf i had to swap these wires around to get it to work properly, but that was only to stop it loosing its settings. so not sure if that might be causing you some problems

When you say you have checked the fuses. are you getting 12.5v from the yellow and red feeds? IIRC VW have this weird situation where the power going to the fusebox is supplied over three different positive inputs. Check to see one hasn't come loose.

checked that i have it the correct way.

i will lift my voltage meter from work tomorrow and check that, i do think something has come loose but as i dont have enough knowledge about car electrics im lost

Ive got a problem with mine when the radio on one channel will get all fuzzy, i have to change frequency up, then down and its perfect signal quality then. So im moving up one station then moving back to the one i was on, but the signal is perfect.

No idea why its happening.
