Car radio serial / radio code

hi all!

I have a 11 plate ford mondeo. The battery died so it has been replaced, I'm trying to obtain a code for my radio unit as it requires a security code now?

I'm not good with car knowledge at all, does anyone have any idea where to find my serial number?

This is my head unit. A blaupunkt travelpilot fx.

As above check the owners pack, then pull the head unit out incase it's on a sticker somewhere (as silly as that seems)

Or just call Ford, they should give you it without much hassle
 
It could be on a sticker inside the radio manual. If not I think you will have to remove the unit to get the serial number so you can decode it and get the security code.

Not silly at all - when I had a Fiesta, I changed the standard Ford stereo for the uprated Sony one - both had factory stickers on the back with the code :)

I think he meant the code is there to stop the stereo being stolen and used else where, with the code stuck to the back of the unit that seems redundant.

But yeah, it often Is!
 
Hmmm no idea how to pop this thing out. And ford say I need a serial number to get the code. It's not on any documents I have in the cars folder I have....

Is there a way to get the serial code from the unit itself without pulling it out?

Ps - cheers for the help!! I'm useless with cars
 
You *shouldn't* have to pay anything when it's the original head unit still in the car

Just call them up tomorrow, go through to service and ask if they can help provide the code over the phone

posted my mistake!

Only for 3,4,5,6,7,8,9000 models with M serial number.
press and hold 6 and it will bring up hidden menu in there somewhere is the serial number, (not all show serial then you'll have to pull the radio out) If it's one of the models post the serial and I'll get you the code.

You could also go to ford, prices range from £0-15, £0 if you bat your eyelids!

So I still can't acquire my serial to get the code, really can't take the dash off myself as so worried I'll break it, seems so flimsy and doesn't want to come off.

And my local ford want £50 for the bloody privilege of pulling radio out to get at my serial and getting the code online for free. Bloody hell
 
Try this.. turn the unit on first then..

To get serial No press and hold 6 & 1 buttons and then release 6 keep 1 pressed look for serial No begins
with letter M OR V and 6 digits
 
I'll try it in morning before I drive to work pal. Thanks for your continued help!

Safe to say when I do get the code it'll be written down in the cars paperwork!
