Car Registration Lookup API

I'm looking for an API that will allow me to lookup details of a car via an API. Google doesn't seem much help, but knowing there are many geeks here, I was hoping someone may know of something.

Kind of like postcodeanywhere for car registrations.

These are available from the DVLA. You need to contact them directly and a charge is made.

Experian offers this sevice - again there is a cost associated with each lookup.

There is no issue with cost. Interesting that Experian offer it, I'll check it out.

It isn't HPI or owner details I'm after btw, but rather make and model details mostly.

I just use that www.askmid.com if I wanna know the make and model.... You can only use it for a car you own, but I'm sure some sneeky buggers just tick the box anyways :eek:

Sounds like he wants to integrate it into a website or an application.

I'm impressed that managed to find much about my car, usually not much comes up with it being an import, the insurer's automated thing always fails.

The data on askmid is not from the DVLA, that's why.

I did look at them was going to contact them about a trial, am planning to build it into a php/angular system rather than me checking for a one off
