Wife is looking at going away with her sister and all our kids (4 of them) for a few days in August.

Cheapest rate we can find is £420 for the thurs - tues rental, standard Vauxhall / Ford variant.

However, an X6 will cost £392, or a Jag £400 ish.
Ok those aren't 7 seaters, but is the 7 seat rental market so over used that they can really charge these sorts of prices?

because they know you'll likely be carrying more poeple in it, and thus up the price. However because you have more people and the price is only marginally higher, the price per person is actually lower ??

At a guess. Don't know tbh.

How much it cost the hire 2 cars for the same period?

Less than £400 for something half decent, though they would just take their own cars instead if that was the choice.

Normal cars, even estates are under £200.

5 in a 5 seater - Under £200, so say £40 per person.
6 in a 7 seater - Over £400, so actually more per person, not less.

:(

Get an estate and put the 6th person in the boot.

On a more serious note, do you not have 2 drivers? Would it not be cheaper to get 2 smaller cars?

They have their own cars, just thought it would be nicer to all travel together and then the driving can be shared.

Plus the cost of 2 lots of petrol and 2 parking spaces (£20 per car or something apparently) it might have been little difference to have 1 car. Seems that's not the case though.
