I need to rent a car for 5 days first week of August in Krakow, Poland.
I've previously rented cars in Iceland and Spain, using Avis, as well as local companies which came really well recommended.
For Krakow, the big name companies are coming twice as much as the local companies, however none of the latter are particularly coming across as reliable. Many reviews with the usual complaints...bad cars, hard sell of extras, asking for additional payments at collection/drop-off for various reasons, delayed deposit release, claiming damage. I am aware of the precautions that I need to take, but I'd rather not take the chance
Anyway, anyone used a local company there, and have feedback on them e.g. Panek, Rentcars, Carforyou, Centrum, Autounion, Express?
I'll take the hit and use a big name otherwise.
Edit - to/from city centre (seems a lot of companies near train station)
