Anyone built one to create this sort of pic?!?!

Im 100% positive that thats a CG image, there is a rig that you can hire that will do that sort of stuff but your looking at thousands of pounds to hire it out and then you still need to do a lot of photoshop work as remove the jig arms out of the shot as it bolts to the underside of the car with a great big arm sticking off.
The closer shots that every one does that only show part of the car are easy with clamps and suction cups but i know some mags have stopped using those as the suction cups can leave marks on the body work.
I still think o'natural, hanging out of the back of a hatch back works best :).

the pics in the link are very good, as the pic in this thread are GC its going to be hard to get close to it, however on a budget it works, and they are damned sharp!

he could have done without being in a carpark though.

there is another set with a roof mounted rig too, they are good also :)

As for the suction cups, I don't understand why they don't use magnets like Learner driver cars. They don't mark the car as you can put something in between. You just can't use them on windows.

There muct be some sort of substance you can use with the suction cups too. They're best used on glass though.

As for the full rigs, how you can you make them universal? You could make a roofrack type rig, but that'd be a lot of Post Processing work in photoshop, but simpler to make in theory.

With the learner plates though, that's all they are, they don't weigh too much. Compared to a camera and rig, which is gonna weigh considerably more, so would need stronger magnets, and you might scratch the paintwork if its difficult to get it off the body. (Could be wrong but it's what I'd think)
