I like this show but am I the only one that has a huge moral quandary with the whole premise of the show.
If you've never watched it, peoples pride and joy cars are taken away and repaired without them knowing, all based on the fact that they were/are ill and deserve the help. All of this seems like a lovely thing to do, but I have a problem with it.
When the show started they were helping people get their VW Golfs, Fords etc, back to health from people who are on hard times monetarily and at the same time ill, I appreciated that, but as the series goes on (maybe for the sake of the show) the cars get better and more expensive.
In a later series they go to a person palatial mansion in the woods, to his huge two garage setup to remove his old DB6, and in doing so repair a car to a value of £500k.

Now don't get me wrong, no one should suffer or be ill, but at the same time does a man with a very nice life deserve to get a repair on his super expensive car over the obviously thousands of other people who have work needed on their cars who are completely incapable of paying for it due to illness.

I have come to the conclusion that maybe for the sake of viewer figures some of these people are fake, which in some ways is even worse.
Anyone else feel morally corrupt like me when watching this show?

Yeah there's been a few on there where you question the reasons. That db6/6r4 really wasn't in the spirit of the shows original intent imo. It comes over more like a money grab for the inheritance.
simply an entertainment show now.

You can say the same thing about Wheeler Dealers started out with some old banger bought for a few ponies and done up with a lick of paint and probably more spanner work than Edd wanted and with a slim few hundred quid profit if you were lucky, to dealing in collectors cars in the US mainly because you got the impression Mike was keen on living the California lifestyle.

Unfortunately it's one of those shows that is becoming a victim of it's own success.

They don't pick the car because of the back story they simply pick an interesting car now and just go with what ever back story there is.

I'd imagine they are worried the ratings will take a nose dive if they just kept doing run of the mill cars.

It's been a good run tbh, but I think it's days are numbered.
