Car Tax

My car Tax expired today but its costs £100 for 6 months. Since I'm getting a new car on Friday how long do I have to declare the car off the road before I get sent a fine?

Officially, no time at all, un-officially, 14days. It doesn't cost anything as far as I remember, so it's probably worth doing anyway, if whoever if taking it off you takes a while sorting the paperwork out then you are still liable.
