Car todo lists....

When I had my Cinquecento, I just gave up using the handbrake and left it in gear. It was useless. People in Sixth Form used to push the car along the road

Every time I sort it, it works brilliantly for about a month. Then it screws itself up again. ******* thing.

Suppose I could add another car to this thread, since I'm helping my mate sort out his '89 Bentley Mulsanne S:

1) Continue sorting out the interior trim, as it's currently held together with all manner of wrongly sized and wrongly headed screws thanks to a previous mechanic's butchering.
2) Front seats need stripping apart to get the leather sorted.
3) Grille is coming off to be shotblasted and painted.
4) Idle speed needs raising a bit.
5) Trace a stray couple of wires in the boot.

After replacing the downpipe and turbo a few weeks ago, I got around to ordering the rest of the exhaust and replaced it tonight.

That's a Mongoose 2.5" mandrel bent cat-back system with a de-cat pipe. Vast improvement to the car's performance. After measuring the bore of the old cat, it came out at about 1.8"... no wonder I wasn't impressed after fitting the new turbo!

Oh, this happened to the old middle pipe while trying to undo one of the bolts. The twisting forces involved ripped it apart  :D

Cheers Daz, seems a shame to have it tucked away under the car :(

They only seem to do one tailpipe option for the Rovers, so it's a 3.5" inward rolled. The old backbox was 4" so not much of a difference but the Mongoose looks a lot smarter.

I was very very suprised when I started the car. The old box made quite a racket and while it sounded awesome, it could get quite annoying. The Mongoose is quite quiet and has a really nice tone. Build quality is absolutely fantastic too!

Well life with the 145 has been... well... great :) 2 months now and still loving the wee thing!

Lots done:

Few Bulbs
Headunit
Door Handles
Above rear window sills
Front Badge and Grille

2 boot lid gas struts

Want to do:

Thermostat
Gearbox Oil
Rear badge
Sort Passenger seat (has a 1cm slide :/)
Fit new downpipe and sort rest of exhaust
Work on body work, dunno what to do yet tho

That is all lol :p

As soon as I can get workshop space ill fix/further investigate

'89 Bentley Mulsanne S:

1) Continue sorting out the interior trim, as it's currently held together with all manner of wrongly sized and wrongly headed screws thanks to a previous mechanic's butchering. Sorted a bunch of these
2) Front seats need stripping apart to get the leather sorted. Going to be June now
3) Grille is coming off to be shotblasted and painted. Next week
4) Idle speed needs raising a bit. Done
5) Trace a stray couple of wires in the boot. Done

6) See what's going on with the fuel mixture.
7) Trace a 'twittering' sound in the rear while driving.
8) Take the windscreen washer jets apart to free them off and get them pointed in the correct direction.

As for the 'cento, she's getting new tyres as soon as I get the time to have them fitted and the handbrake is working perfectly again after two hours of dicking about on the driveway. Everything else on the car is either perfectly okay right now or can wait until work calms down and I have time to get into it.

Get car serviced
Find some new tyres that are half decent, and make sure i have the same 4 in each corner
Try and find a bumper and bonnet the same colour as mine in good condition!
Sort out the cables from the speakers properly, and hide them away

Check tire pressures :p
Clean off the stupid sap from teh damn pne tress before it eats through teh car then the earth.
Wash, clay, polish wax.

New pads, something like green stuff, new hoses.
Laser tracking (car hasn't been done in its 16 yr life )

Done something long overdue today, an Auxillary belt change. Good thing I did:

:o

There was a stone lodged in the bloody thing ready to tear the belt to shreds :(

All that needs doing is the MAF sensor and perhaps a coil pack and ignition leads.

Recently done some work on the Megane bar the usual service. Had a weeping thermostat housing so whipped that off and re-sealed it, nice and easy! Well it was untill I got to work the next day, parked, got out and the noticed that the car had wee'd all its coolant on the floor. 30 mins of my lunch later and job is now a goodun and all the water stays in where it should.

Jobs to do:
Fit new Green panel filter, eBay bargain @ £16 + postage
Source pair of rear ABS rings + bearings then fit new rear disks and pads
Clean for Norwich area motors meet

Blimey, dodged a bullet there - nice one ! :)

I need to finish fixing the Rover; its taken me far far too long. The Alfa needs a polish badly and is booked in for new wishbones - at least the washer jets work now! :)

1, new clutch
2, dent fixed
3, get some alloys, (seen some nice team dynamics equinox :)
4, coilovers
5, new exhaust, something is knocking against floor pan :(
6, bora vents

its a mkIV golf btw

1. Get a new sunstrip (current one did have subaru logo on it, i peeled that off but where its faded you can still see the pure lose :( )

2. Get it serviced - 11th May

3. Get some Tein lowering springs because at the moment its a little "boaty"

4. Get some prosport gauges. Oil temp / pressure and BOOOOST

5. Get a decent Geo done

6. 2 new front tyres - F1 asymetrics - DONE

7. De-Tango the headlights

Update... Done items in red!

Thermostat (dont think this needs done now, i think the radiator was the temp issue!)
Gearbox Oil
Rear badge, its a bit fiddly to do!
Sort Passenger seat (had a 1cm slide :/)
Fit new downpipe and sort rest of exhaust (done and fitted with a S/S system... sounds lovely! Very quiet, lovely wee note!)
Work on body work, dunno what to do yet tho (dents on door, scratches, stone chips! :( )

1. Fit Eibach Pro Kit Lowering Springs and Tokico D-Spec shocks
2. Fir a pair of gas bonnet struts

Was going to do a CAI but depending on cash flow I'd like to fit a supercharger so that would be pointless.

Although I still need to sell the old BM before I can go ahead with any of the above.
Thought I'd add an update to this with current progress (and shock how fast time has passed).

I'm still going with the Tokico D-Spec fully adjustable shocks but now decided on Roush springs instead. The shocks were ordered from the states and have now been delivered, all going to plan I'll be able to get them fitted with the new springs in the next 2-3 weeks.

Another upgrade I've been looking into in detail is a short shifter kit and so far I'm leaning towards the MGW kit which gives a throw that can be adjusted between a range of about 15 percent shorter than stock to 50 percent. Fairly simple to fit and not expensive.

Still REALLY want to put in a Supercharger but the current strength of the pound versus the dollar is hampering that at the moment. :(

Once that lot of performance mods is out the way I fancy a nice set of Shelby Razor wheels.
