Car won't start

Im confused as to why you would replace the previous battery with a second hand one:confused:
we had a diesel pug 308 which got written off 18 months ago and it had a 6 month old 12v battery in it. had it not been such a pain to remove I may have been tempted to whip it out and give it away (not sell it).
technically if from a trusted source who knows the history of the battery, it is wasteful "binning" a perfectly fine battery and there is no harm sticking in a used one if it has plenty of life (for mates rates)

that said, my money is on a crap battery too :)

I ordered a new Bosch battery from Tayna a couple of days ago. I'm just waiting on it now although they did email me yesterday advising of high volume of orders during this cold period and to expect delays.

Was quite surprised that the usual places such as Halfords etc don't seem to have a lot of battery options for the car and price wise weren't that competitive.

The batteries that Halfords sold for my car about 11 months ago where about 50%+ more expensive than buying them from Tayna and thats without the fitting fee halfords charge though I did mine myself.

Crazy as I ordered the battery at about 6pm and it came the next day.

Got the battery today from Tayna, fitted it myself (first timer so probs a bit more of a slog than it needed to be) and car started.

Thanks all.

Well done.

Now never ever purchase a used battery again, for anything, unless you enjoy messing about with jumper packs / jumper cables / flagging people down for jumps and whatever other arsing about you have to do in the freezing cold because your battery died in the middle of Aldi's parking lot and nobody has any jumper cables and the nearest Halfords is 2 miles away and you won't know if that booster pack will have enough charge and why didn't you just get the ******* roadside assistance package David WHY!!!!

Nice, DIY FTW - you might want to give the battery connectors a scrub with a wire brush. Sometimes the contact points can fur up with oxidation

A faulty battery can throw all sorts of fault codes on modern cars.

When my W204 C63 battery gave up on life, my car started to refuse to go into gear one time until I replaced it

Why would you buy a second hand battery? that's madness.

There's only one reason someone would sell a second hand battery, and that's because it's already fubar and they need to buy a new one themselves.
I have purchased a second hand battery before.

In my defence:

- It was only 18 months old
- It cost me £40
- I put it into my sister’s car so she could run it for a month and PX it against a better car.
