Feels like the midweek results have lifted the sprits of Toon fans. Newcastle really can win this but we need maximum effort and 8 or 9 out of 10 performances from every one of them to do so.
I thought Howe would go a similar set up to the SF but the lack of that third CB is going to restrict that. I think it’s a question of Willock in the midfield to provide more of a press or use Barnes in the Gordon role. Rest of the team probably picks itself. Still feel we’ve not seen the best of Barnes so Sunday would be a nice time for him to shine. It’s like he’s either winning matches for us or being almost anonymous with very little in between. I’d not be surprised either way if he drops Pope, there’s not much between the two keepers for me both should be replaced as neither would get near a top side.
I don’t think Howe fancies Target much so would presume he’ll play Livramento at left back, don’t think either would deal particularly well with Salah anyway so maybe a moot point.
That intense press is key and hopefully they have the energy to keep it up as that’s when we’ve looked best against Liverpool, especially in the draw at st James I thought. I think Szobozlai is such a good player and he always impresses me when I see him but we need the Brazilian boys to do a proper job on him.

While another final loss will be disappointing it’s nothing we’ve not had before and we’ve waited long enough for a trophy, another year or two wouldn’t hurt. Been telling myself that since I was a kid. My 80 year old Dad was 10 when they last won a domestic competition.

Howay the lads.

I’m definitely less nervous about this final than the last one - I think mostly because I’ve already resigned myself to the loss.

It’s not that I don’t think we can do it (anything can happen) but Liverpool are one of the best teams in the world right now (even with a few players out), and our record against them is atrocious. I think we had a better chance against Man U two years ago so it felt worse.

So, I’m not expecting a win, I’d just like the team to turn up and give it 100% (unlike last time).

As long as we don’t go out with a whimper (and there isn’t a dodgy VAR call or some other travesty), I’ll take it as a result and if we do manage to win it will be a massive bonus.

HWTL indeed - come on Newcastle!

I hope Newcastle get some luck on the day and get the win. This trophy means nothing to Liverpool but would mean the world to Newcastle.

Presumably everyone is going to be walking around their home topless drinking brown ale tomorrow? Toon Army!

Well I was supposed to be going to this, but due to some problems I have been having and now needing a procedure on Monday morning, I will be watching it on TV now :(:(

Sorry to hear that. Hope you make a swift recovery and your blood pressure goes back to normal in time for the op.

Of course. And the horses in the paddock next door better be on their toes. :D

I feel for you fella, let's hope they lose then, I don't want you to remember it as the final you should have been there to see them win.

Though I do recall an awful lot of your lot calling this the Mickey Mouse cup back in the 2013/14 season

yep, I honestly believed we could beat that poor Man Utd side we faced, whereas I'm just going to try and enjoy the occasion. Would be nice to celebrate a goal being scored at Wembley, as I'm pretty sure in my lifetime I've not see NUFC score a goal, let alone win, in a final :D

Tell you what if we go one up in the first 10 mins the next 80 will be grim!!

0-0 until the 96min and we get the winner please!!!!!
I'll do a deal, you take the Cup home and we take Isak home.
Depends. Is that 200million GBP and a cup?
