Carb help

Hi All,

Trying to get my old SV650 back on the road.

The bike has been sat for quite some time(Years), and these carbs used to run fine, a few weeks ago I couldn't get any fuel to the carbs, so I have now rebuilt the fuel tap and checked the fuel vacuum pump and now fuel is flowing fine.

I have had the carbs apart and given them a clean thought I didn't check or set the float height, in my head I thought haven't played with it, should still be fine

Now when I came to test start it yesterday she would eventually start but fuel was literally pouring out of the carbs, out of both drain hoses and also out of the middle hole in the pic below, when it was running you could smell and see it was running way too rich, also wouldn't idle.

So what have I broken? Help please.

sticking float? not shutting off the fuel and flooding

Yeah thats what I am thinking, its the only thing I haven't touched so looks most logical

I think theres a float valve aswell that could stick

Blocked jets could also be a cause?

If they have been sitting for a number of years with fuel in Its probably best to strip them completely and either have a go at cleaning them your self or getting them ultrasonic cleaned.
