I wander if you guys could give me some card advise

I've just got a small dell optiplex 270 as a 2nd machine and i want to put a new gfx card in it but it only has a 8cm blanking slot on the back.

do you guys know of a decent low profile card that i can use ?

thanks

Yeah it is a AGP slot

that radeon card itself is about the size im going to need just may have to chop down the blanking plate.

i was hoping to get at least a 128MB card if possible.

I want to set it up as a machine for mates to use when they come over and play games like cs, cz & tiger woods

the onboard vid at the moment is only 64mb and really cant handle it
(constant freezing and jerking)

im only going to be running 1 monitor off it so could go with a card that only has 1 vid out either vga or dvi not fussed

There is an X1600 Pro HDMI on AGP, which might do what you need as it is designed for HTPCs. It'd be kinda expensive though just to play CS and I'm not sure the AGP version is the same as the PCI-E, but might be worth looking into if your interested ;)

Yeah thats a bit more than i was looking to spend.

was browsing around last night and I think I may have found the card im looking for, its a XFX Geforce Graphics Card 6200A 256MB DDR AGP8X DVI TVO Retail
it comes with a removable VGA out so i can just the DVI and I can remove the blanking plate and swap it out with a smaller one.

Does anyone know if this is a decent card ??

By all accounts these cards are pretty poor. But it should be better than the onboard graphics, maybe.

You might be looking for a while unfortunately. :p

There aren't really any low profile graphics cards that are any good for playing games. So either a new case is in order, or you'll probably have to settle for a 6200.
