Hi

My 8800GT has died and i'm looking for a budget replacement which will give me either the same level or improved proformance.

Been out of the loop regarding video cards so really have no idea what the latest and greatest is ( the 8800GT was current last time I upgraded!! )

Other spec on the PC is:

Hiper 580W HPU-4M580 SLi Certified ATX2.2 Power Supply

Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400 LGA775 'Yorkfield' 2.66GHz 4MB-cache (1333FSB) Processor - Retail

Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3LR Intel P45 (Socket 775) DDR2 Motherboard

Kingston HyperX 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 PC2-8500C5 1066MHz Dual Channel (KHX8500D2K2/4G)

Thanks for any advice

Thanks for the replies.
Must admit I had never heard of reflowing so a quick google and hey presto it works again!
How long for who knows?

Still it will give me time to save up for a replacement hopefully.

A successful reflow is very satisfying - but as you rightly point out you need to start saving for a replacement as the life expectancy of a reflowed component can sometimes be quite limited.

What method did you use?
