So I will be pulling the trigger tomorrow on a 290x but while at it and having my AMD Glasses on I was thinking whether it would be an optuion to replace the GTX 580 in my 2nd machine with a lesser AMD variant

Prices will no doubt drop soon but the R9 285 for £139 looks a winner

The machine just plays Eve on 1080p and some WOW

Runs them fine to be honest but you lot know how it goes

I could push the boat out and get a 290x for both systems but it would be another £90 if I do that

Thanks for looking and your opinions

System in a FX8350 at stock, 16GB RAM and a Gigabyte 970A DS3P with a 480GB SSD. Case will fit any of the cards fine

The R9 285 is very competitive at that price. It trades blows with the more expensive GTX 960 @ 1080.

It will do nicely.

(However for 90 more the R9 290X could be very tempting)

lol no mate

Its just a machine I run 2nd clients of Eve and my kid plays WOW on

Would have been nice but I would have had to change the PSU possibly as well

I got offered a good price for them mate and I thought why not

Means I am able to change things easier in future

And I got a Bonus from work :D

Why dont you buy me something nice instead? You will get a warm feeling in your belly if you do.

I think 2 290's would be best as if you wanted to later you could crossfire them and also due to extra memory and more grunt power you would go long before upgrading again.

Also if you have the money why not ?
