I'm stuck, i can't decide on a graphics for my up coming HTPC. Maybe you guys can help ?

My max budget is £100, preferably around £70 though.

I would like it to be as quiet as possible, and only take up a single PCI slot.

It will mainly be used for watching TV and movies, however i will browse the internet with it occasionally. Hence HTPC :D

Is 512mb memory enough or would i need a 1024mb card?

Thanks

even if the card is dual slot can just place the TV card in the bottom slot of you mobo:D no worries:D

and it goes in the blue slot just incase you didnt know:D unless your TV CARD is dual slot then erm the 4630 may be a good alternative

Get the 4350 as it uses a lot less power than the 4670 and is easily powerful enough if you're not playing games.

I would say go for something less powerful too, not necesarily 4350, but the 4550 is very capable for any HTPC use and much less than a 4670.

I'm going to build an HTPC for my dad over the summer so I've been doing some research about which parts to use. I had the initial idea of getting a 4550 but there's no point really as it's still too slow to run games and the 4350 is just as capable as it for media. Also the 4350 uses a bit less power than the 4550.

Tbh though for the prices either cards are fine.

The benefit of the 4000 series cards is that they output video and 7.1 sound via HDMI on the graphics card. This negates the need for a sound card and if you have a newish amp then only one connection is needed between the pc and the amp (which then goes into your tv).

Right so the 4350 it is

I've been comparing the Gigabyte 4350 and the Sapphire 4350, i know the spahphire is passive and the gigabyte has a fan, but which one should i go for ? The Gigabyte has HDMI without the need for a dongle, will the Sapphire come with a dongle, or do i need to buy one?

Oh, and the Gigabyte has a slighter faster clock speed, 650 compared to 600MHz Will there be much differentence ?

Thanks

oic ah ha well according to what u've said above about the 2 4350s u can still use HDMI with the sapphire u will need an adapter and it should come with one the sapphire underclocked so it runs cooler as ther is no fan therefore the gigabyte runs faster but erm yeh its up to u a small fan like the one on the gigabyte looks whiny:(
