How do i set up a seperate gfx card for physix only since there are no options in the nvidia control panel?

Also my board doesnt support sli so it might not work, but if i buy a 9800gt (the bfg ecointelligence looks decet, i dont even need the pcie power connector) install it, how do i set it up so that my 8800 runs graphics & the 9800 runs physix?

You'd be better off putting your money towards a single faster nvidia card to use for both rendering and physx if you want to run physx stuff rather than running 2x 8/9 series cards.

The thing is you would essentialy be buying a WHOLE seperate gaphics card for the benefit of about 5 games.

You are much better off pooling your cash and buying a single faster card.

If you have a spare card knocking about then its just a case of putting it in the slot and telling the drivers which card to use a physx card. But buying a new card is a waste of money really as youd need something of 8800 class to make a difference.

Youd probably be better off buying a GTX260 as a new main card, its about another £30 quid but it would be much betrter then the 8800 + 9800 setup you propose.

Plus if you really did want a play with physx then you could just try out your existing 8800 ;)

One GPU is enough for all current physx games. Why people say just 5 games I don't know they are just laying or have no idea what they are talking about. The only reason to use a second GPU for PhysX is for more FPS but that's often unneeded.

Most people who say there are no Physx games just don't want to admit they are missing out.

missing out..! is that in the same as claudia schiffer will perform a oral service to you,re neveregions but you will have to make you,re own cup of tea afterwards.

Missing out as in that without Physx the game looks worse with worse atmosphere. Less atmosphere equals less fun to play. Physx adds a lot of little details to the world making it feel more alive.

Its like playing a game on medium or high graphics. On high the atmosphere of the game is better making it more fun.

Heres a list of games that use PhysX that are actualy important:

Mirrors Edge
Archam Asylum
Unreal Tournament
Mass Effect
Gears of War 1/2

Thats one hell of a list isn't it, well worth it.

I own 1 of those games, that being Mirrors Edge and I can't really see how I'm missing out on having shattered glass look just a "tiny bit" more like broken glass.

Am I right in thinking that without hardware support, the games just use a simpler software emulation of PhysX for the physics simulation?

It depends on the game. Some are just slower with software but use the same physics. Others like Batman use am much simpler physics simulation and look much worse without hardware PhysX.
Fenris I dont agree on that list you missed out some good games like Sacred 2.

I bilieve the Ghostbusters game makes very good use of physx when its out. The only other one i can think of youve missed off is Railroad Simulator and Railworks
