Hi

Im looking for a card for light gaming for under £100, is the 6600GT any good and will it work with an nForce3 mobo as ive read the 6800GTs have issues with this chipset. Is £60 + £10 postage an OK price for a Gigabyte 6600GT?

I currently have a ti4200 so anything will be a massive improvement I presume.

thanks

The 6600GT is a good card and you will def see an improvement..sounds like a good price too, not sure about the chipset problems though..hopefully someone else can shed some light on that.

nForce 3 & Socket 939? If so, PCI-E mobo + GFX upgrade might not be that expensive to consider, etc e.g...
  • Asrock 939Dual-SATA2 (Socket 939 & Upgradable to AM2) AGP & PCI-Express Motherboard (MB-002-AK) £36.95
  • BFG 3DFuzion GeForce 7600 GS 256MB DDR2 TV-Out/DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-026-BG) £67.95
  • Subtotal £104.90
  • Shipping (City Link Parcel Next Day (Delivered Mon-Fri)) £8.25
  • VAT £19.81
  • Total £132.96
Preliminary testing showed that the GeForce 7600 GS outperforms a GeForce 6600 GT and Ati's counterpart, the ATI Radeon X1600 Pro.

Damn, I forgot to check this thread and bought that 6600gt for 69.99inc postage on an auction site. I did see an x800gto on agp on overclockers site but it was £129.

ive got an asrock dualsata2 on a folding@home pc, if the 6600gt isnt what I expect i'll swap the nforce3 board out and get a more decent card on pci-e.

thanks
