Hi. My son paid for his University tuition fees online using his card. Next thing he receives a call from his bank saying someone's using his card in America so they block the transaction. I was chatting to a lady at work and mentioned what happened without disclosing the name of the University. I was shocked when she mentioned a similar thing happened to her when she paid for her child's fee online and when I queried which University it was she mentioned exactly the same one. I didn't even know her boy goes to the same University as mine. Something not right here?

Is not the normal thing that fees get paid direct to the Uni by the SLC? That's certainly how it works in my case. Unless he's doing a Masters, then I think you get paid the £10k direct and you pay the fees from that.

I've seen some scam emails going round requesting students pay thier fees via a spoofed site - sure he's not victim of one of those?

He has no student loan.
