Card not powering up

Well my new R9 390 arrived today but will not power up.
I have a Coolermaster 600 watt although it only has one 8 pin connector and one 6 pin and the card has 2 x 8 pin.

Forgive me for sounding thick but is this why :(

Any help appreciated

Thanks

Id say this is indeed the problem. You could use a molex to pcie adapter as most new cards come with theese.

as setter says use the 8 pin to molex connecter, my psu has 2 x 8 pins on my 390 so was fine but o never looked at the cables that came with it.

saw the hdmi cable and it said the manuals etc are under the foam lol

That is the most likely reason. Do the fans spin on the card? If nothing happens then the card is not getting the required power. What is the exact model of the power supply?

Make sure the 8 pin connector has pci-e written on it since power supplies also have such a connector for the motherboard.

The 6 pin connector can be converted to an 8-pin connector with a cable you can buy (can't find one on OCUK but plenty on ebay just search for "PCIe 6 Pin to 8 Pin".) This type of cable is not advisable though since a 6 pin pci-e connector does not supply enough power as an 8 pin unless you have a single 12V rail power supply.

sorry did not notice the previous reply regarding 6-8 pin.

Just wondering about upgrading the PSU to be on the safe side. Do you guys have any suggestions on the model.

My current Coolermaster is a B600 2 years old.

Well now the rig won't power up full stop.
Wondering if the PSU has packed up.
LED still working for network connection though would everything be off if it had gone bang:(:(
