Hey,

Something of a headscratcher so bear with me :p

My old Akasa front panel memory card reader died after having an incident with a drunken Psymonkee putting a card in a place it shoudn't go so I purchased a Lian Li card reader to match my case as it's replacement.

Plugged it all in and turned it on and nothing - seems dead. Took it out of my machine and tried it in my fathers PC and it worked perfectly. Took it back off him and just plugged it in to my machine whilst sitting on the desk.

It worked flawlessly. Happy with the results I popped it back in it's place in the PC, secured it with 4 screws and put the PC back on the floor.

Dead. Again!

Surely the screws can't be the problem - it's a card reader so not exactly highly sensitive equipment!?

Any ideas besides leaving it dangling inside the case?

Thanks

:)

Check the connections, try using it without installing it, you will then know if it's shorting when mounted.

Done some fiddling today and it didn't work until I removed it from the case again.

Carefully reinstalled it in the case, no screws - working.

Add the screws + power cycle - working.

Case panels added + power cycle - still working!

I'm going to assume it was ghosts. Only reasonable explanation tbh!
