I recently installed an Akasa Allinone card reader. It installed fine hardware & drivers.

But when I pop in an SD card windows explorer freezes. This happens on both XP32 and Vista64. XP gives an I/O error eventually. I'm thinking there must be a hardware problem. I've tried plugging the card reader into different usb ports in the mobo. No luck.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Is this an internal or external reader, if it's external have you tried the USB ports on the back? If it's internal then make sure that the connection to the mobo is correct with respect to the pin outs of the mobo USB connector, check the mobo manual and what the Akasa expects. Also it it's internal is there a power connector that you maybe need to plug in.

I've done all of the above. I've even reied changing to a spare usb port on the mobo. All the drivers load fine, everything just freezes when I insert my SD card :( It all comes back to life when I take it out.
