Card recomendation

I want a card that does not produce much heat, and is not too noisy to fit into a pentium R dual core PC. It's for a third PC, so that my children can play some simple LAN co-op games like madballs babo invasion, Alien Swarm and suchlike.

What would you recommend? Obviously cheap is good. This is not a PC that will be used much,

+1 for this or if you are an nVida person then a gtx460 should run cool enough for you. I've got one presently and it idles around 30 deg and is quite quiet in comparison to my old 8800GTX.

Yeah right a 460 would be overkill for what he was after it for

Off the top of my head, I was thinking 5830.

Also the card is powerful enough, to go in to a future build if you upgrade the cpu.

How over the top are you lot going? Alienswarm? On an old Pentium R? A 5450 would probably be all that's required...

OP, I'd look around for a second hand 5670 or 5750/5770. Very quiet, and will continue to play basic games for years from now.

yes i agree but there Kids so in another year or two there gaming wants/needs are going to grow rather rapidly right ?

yeah but there's 2 better spec pc's for that, this is for them just mesing about and the card i advised would give a little head room

Thanks all. A few years time isn't a problem. My 5870 will be retiring at that point . THe only problem is that the card has in integrated waterblock.

Perhaps I'll watercool them both at that point for quietness. That'll be an interesting project.

I'll do some research on the comparable speeds of those cards. Thanks.
