So it's RMA time for my trusty 780ti, repasting isn't gonna help repaste twice this month but temps keep creeping. In the middle of contacting EVGA about it.

I just want to ask, seeing as it'll be going back anyway is there any harm in continuing to use the card? obviously 93 degrees is high and eventually my system will just shut down if it goes too high. But is there a risk of the card frying and taking other components out?

If it is just the GPU that is too hot then other components are not at risk :).

Is 93c really that hot? In my view it is on the high side, but not awful.
Have you upped the voltage for an overclock?
is the GPU part of your water loop?

I'm pretty sure it thermal throttling begins at 91, and that card shuts down at 95

The card is at stock completely.

No it's still got the ACX cooler on it.

Sorry for potentially obvious question but have you tried installing MSI afterburner and running it with fans on Auto?

My new card was running at 94 degrees in FC3!!! I was told by many to RMA it but I installed MSI afterburner, ran it completely default and my temps shot down to under 70!!

Card manufacturers seem to lean HEAVILY on quiet rather than cool in terms of fan setup. I'd rather a cool card than a silent one. I game with headphones on anyway.

I usually run my own fan setup as otherwise its too loud on stock.Even playing around with it its either too hot or too loud.

Just out of curiosity what temps are you getting at 100% fans and side off the case? (I know 100% fans are extremely loud) but I am curious.
