So I've just done a spur of the moment purchase on the MM, oops. :p

Micro atx board, 4gb of ram (Will upgrade with another stick to 8 at some point) 955 BE quad core 3.2 ghz, which i'll probably OC to around 3.8ghz or so depending on which cooler I go for.

What gpu would be most suitable for this without there being a bottleneck?

It's going to go in a Lian Li PC-V300b (Will need some modifying as it doesn't like long cards), mainly used as a HTPC but you know how it is, once you get ideas you want bigger, so I'd like it to run some good games in the living room too.

Budget, are you going to buy the card second hand (i would, bargains about!) or new?

The CPU is still pretty good, it should still be good for 60hz screens for the majority of games with the minimums not being too bad, i'd probably set my sights on a 6850>6950/460>470 mark, any more than that and it'll be wasted, although i really not an expert!

I gave my friend a GTX480 as an upgrade and he runs a 965, he reckons its pretty much perfect in all games, means very little but its something to go on :D :D

Well looking at the MM again there are some bargains, it's gonna be a second hand system all round I think (Apart from crucial ssd as the drive which is on offer at the mo), 580 for £80 for example but not sure how wasted that would be on the cpu. It's such an evil forum for my wallet when I get an idea in my head..

The 580 isn't much more powerful than a 480 in all honesty and at £80 it's probably the best card price/performance on the MM imho. Just make sure you get a decent PSU as they're beastly things :D

Yeah it'll be a good quality psu, I'm tempted to get a new psu for my main rig as I want to CF my 7950, and then chuck in my current psu into the micro atx build. It's a bronze Coolermaster 850 watt so capable of CF but I lost the cables for it when I moved house so I can't have more than one gpu. :(
