Okay guys iv sold my 8800GTS as I will be going to America and I have nice bit of cash lined up for that holiday now but in the meantime I need some card to mess about with for 3weeks!
Getting myself a new Motherboard with the cash to squeeze a lot more out of my e6300 which is being held back but need a card....

Might go for the 8600GT and clock the bejesus out of it....

HD2600XT for sheer curiosity sake....

Yes I know the 2 aforementioned are not the best but its something different for the fun! :D

I have had cards like the x1800xt, x1950pro etc etc so not needing to go down that road again. I await the flames and people saying keep the cash and get something in the states...which I may do anyways ;)

Why'd you sell your 8600GTS? Surely the money you got for it would only just cover the cost of a 8600GT?

Read it again Darg ;) I sold my 8800GTS

Doh.. :o

What motherboard are you on? You could try a cheapie 2x 2600 or 2x8600 if you just want to mess around. Overclock the crap out of them and see if you can beat your GTS scores.

EDIT: Really gotta learn to read fully. Get an IP-35 and 2x2600s if you can find em cheap.

The IP is from Abit yeah? Basically I was informed to steer clear of the Abits as they are really bad clockers.

You were misinformed, unless you consider an fsb of 490 bad.

edit - this review also gives a nod to the IP35 Pro as being one of the best P35-based boards.

Yeah i got clued up on it about 15mins ago but its too price heavy for a good crossfire motherboard which can clock a core 2 duo, just no cheaper alternatives out there so I may just get an SLi mobo and put something together in SLi

TBH, I would save your money and buy something good, cheap stuff is fun for about 10 mins then it wears off and you wish you got something faster.

A HD 2400 or 2600 might go down well but dont waste your monies. :p

Wise words as always Lay-z! I may just get an EVGA 650i mobo and an 8600GT and see what prices are like when I'm over in the states for the x2900xt and the GTX. Definately need a good motherboard as to be quite honest I dont think I've ever owned one lol

Decided :P Im gonna mess about with SLi and since it has the same chipset as the EVGA I have decided I'll be going for the Asus P5N-E SLi and im gonna pick up 1 OCUK 8600GT to start with and then go SLi(end of august) for a few months and I'm gonna be clocking the absolute bejesus out of them

Fairly happy as in the long run I dont wanna change processors and I have always been interested in how far my e6300 can clock since iv always been limited by a bios!

Then again come my student loan....lol

Should be fun, just waiting on 8800 money to clear now....

I have the P5N-E myself. Cracking board and a great overclocker. As long as your RAM can handle synced speeds then you should get a great speed out of your E6300.

I want to see dodgy volt mods all over those gfx cards! :p

I'd rather buy a single 8800GTS for a little bit more.

8600GT SLi is a bit....lame aren't they like 89 quid each? Which makes them barely cheaper than a single 8800GTS. :o

Iv had an 8800gts still have it until I send it out, im just messing about until the next cards come out now and getting the motherboard is fairly important.
Plus I wouldnt be stupid enough to pay £89 for them! Your talking just under £70 for the 8600GT. Buying one now and one over in the states for an even cheaper price.

And yes Darg I hope to have some dodgy Voltmods for fun :) Hopefully the GT's I pick up have good overclocking as standard anyways.
