Is it feasible to dunk the headphones and use the speakers from an LG CX OLED monitor, or other soundbar kind of thing, if I get a mic with a cardioid directional pattern?

From what I've read it should ignore the audio from the rear and just pick up me talking without the gaming sounds being picked up too much is that right?

My use case is a bit of online gaming and MS Teams calls at work (Teams is less of a problem as there's no gaming sounds going on when I'm speaking)

Sick of the bloody sweaty headphones and want to get rid.

Looking at Blue Yeti or Elgato Wave:3 - are these any good?

Cheers guys.

If you would want to use speakers, yes a cardioid microphone would be best. But I would not suggest I large diaphragm condenser mic like the Yeti or the Wave 3. They are prone to pick up a lot of background noise due to the capsule.

I would look at a Dynamic microphone such as the Rode Podcaster, this would be much less likely to pick up as much noise from speakers as the Yeti or Wave would.

EDIT: change the dynamic mic recommendation as accidentally used incorrect one.

Another microphone which you could look into is the Samson Q2U. It has a USB port and a XLR connector.

So you can use it on the USB mode and if you would like to upgrade to have an audio interface in the future for a XLR microphone you have a microphone to use in the mean time.

I'm going down a rabbit hole of mics now, never realised there was so much to it. The Samson Q2U seems a decent option overall thanks.

There is a crazy amount of different mics for different uses, I've spent hours just looking up all sorts of different ones and what they're used for.

Just another note, you'll probably want either a small desk tripod or a microphone arm for the microphone. They can be found on Amazon for around 10 quid
