Hi all after advice

Basically started working g for the company at 18 took on a junior role in it support which rolled into a trained front line then backline position 14 years later and I'm still on backline but also responsible for training front and some less experienced backline staff members along with being an escalation point.

We've taken a new support manager on to manage the 2 teams, software and hardware, who whilst is only a few weeks in and hasn't made any decisions yet, made suggestions that he'd like to do departmental reshuffles and have to go 3 team leads rather than the current 1. The idea being that rather than 1 manager 1 team lead and 20 staff therefore be 1 manager 3 team leads each with around 6 staff each. During this 1 to 1 he suggested I had the potential to be put into one of those roles as and when it happened.

Right now I'm thinking great heres a chance to move up in the world. My questions really are regarding how, as while he's made the suggestion if like to do everything I can to mad I a no brainer. So sorry if going to the current t/l and basically among a do you do had anyone got any suggestions on what best to do.
Also any books literature or YouTube videos worth looking into would be great
