Right I recently bought a car from cargiant, i noticed since the weather got warmer that the aircon wasn't very cold, that was fine, i booked it in for a clean and re-gas. Got the car back and the aircon does not work at all now really. So back to audi it goes and they spend all day looking at it. They ring me back and tell me the air con compressor is broken and needs to be replaced. £800. Also they found the overun valve for the turbo is broken and i might notice sudden loss of power. total cost with labour - £154.

Now i am not happy. I have had a look around on the internet and see lots of conflicting advice. Do cargiant have a legal obligation to fix these problems? I have owned the car for less than a month, but i can't see anywhere on the cargiant website that mentions a standard 3 month warranty like most dealers have.

Any advice?:mad::mad::mad:

pretty sure its covered under the sale of goods act and must be fit for purpose depending on the age/price of the car.

Any more details on the car?

I assume you gave cargiant the chance to fix the problems first before going to Audi?

56 reg car was just under 10 grand

A3 2.0T S-Line Special Edition.

Havn't given cargiant a chance yet as i have only found out today from audi that it has these problems (and they havn't been fixed yet as they didn't have the parts in stock). I wanted to check if cargiant actually have to cover this before ringing them

I assume the car is still ok to drive with this overrun valve problem on the turbo?

slightly less than a month, I agree with you, I just see a rocky road ahead

lesson learnt, spend 10k on a car, make sure it has third party warranty

Funnily enough, i actually DID buy the AA Warranty they try and sell you with the car (just got one year instead of the 3 they try and sell you) only problem is you have to choose what is covered, and i selected turbo but not air con as i thought the turbo would be more likely to go wrong and more expensive to fix if it does, so thats just unlucky.:(

Have you spoken to cargiant yet?
Don't they need to prove that the problem was not there when the car was bought to get out of it?

If im reading this right the timeline went like this:

Bought car
Noticed air con wasn't very cold (understandable due to age of vehicle)
Took it somewhere (you didn't say where) and had air con re-gassed
Got it back and air con wasn't working at all
Took it to Audi who say compressor is shot

Tbh id be more inclined to go back to whoever re-gassed it as form what you said it sounds like they broke it.

I took the car to audi for a re gas, and took it back to them when it still wasn't working. (don't know why they didn't notice it was still not working the first time)

Anyways i have spoken to cargiant, and they say they cover all cars for a month and so i am booked in for wednesday to take my car down and they said they will sort it our for free.

I feel a bit better now:)
