Evening all,

I've got a 5 Litre bottle of " Carlube 10w40 Semi-Synthetic " to go into my HDi tommorow when I change the oil and filter.

Unfortunately I didn't " Google Around " for the best Oil before I went to Euro Parts for the bits.

Heres what it says on the bottle..

Carlube

10w40 Engine Oil

API SL / CF ACEA A3, B3, B4

5L Semi-Synthetic

I can't seem to find much Information on the Carlube range, and I'd like to know how the OcUk motoring community rate the stuff ?

Thanks.

I stick it in my Prelude, because it's what my dad's supplier supplies.

I've been using it since I got the car, but I do change it every 3k miles anyway, so the cheap stuff does me well.

My dad also puts it into all the cars he does - not had any issues yet.

Is it super pro ester!?!

No, It says something about " Extreme Super Pro " on the back though ;)

EDIT - I will get on with the oil and filter change tommorow :)

I changed the Air Filter and Fuel Filter earlier,

The air filter was black and had loads of carp underneath it... :|

the fuel filter looked a rather strange colour aswell :|

Good sign that its been looked after I say :p ;)

i have used it before and id use it again. it is pretty cheap, so id just change it sooner if need be. they sponsor a lot of motorsport so they must have an idea of what theyre doing

is the 10-40 youre putting in diesel specific tho, becuse there is a different

I use it in my car...cant fault it at all! Just keep an eye on it, mines a 16v and it uses oil a little as all 16v's do! I do a lot of mileage compared to most people I know so every month I check its level and give it a top up if required.

never put a drop of oil in my mondeo, the level never moved

Morning all,

It says on the back..

Suitable for modern engines requiring a low viscosity oil including petrol and light/medium Diesels, both naturally aspirated and turbocharged.

Uhm ive owned 2 16v cars now, both used a little oil when running, not a lot, perhaps 50-100ml every couple of months but they both used some!

I thought all 16v's used a little :/

Nope, maybe just a vauxhall thing :p Certainly the 2 24v beasties in our household don't. Neither does my bike either and that's 16valve I think.

Uhm, might need to keep an eye on this then incase its a problem that needs fixing!

It probably won't be a problem, Vauxhall (and other manufacturers in fairness) consider oil useage acceptable. Vauxhall's guidance is 1 litre per 1000 miles for petrol, and 1ltr for 800 miles for their older diesels. It's only if it's using more than that it's considered excessive.
