Carefully cut a cross slit in the top fabric.

Take a sharp knife and measure the depth,

wrap some gaffa tape around the knife as a guide,
Picture has gone missing

cut the required shape out, unfortunately as you can see there's a few copper plated bars in the way :( (nothings ever easy)

Magically remove the bars, aka some more pictures missing

Used a metal hack saw with one of those round cut any way blades in (copping saw??).

remove some more foam and offer up display :)

I was hoping to get away with it, but due to the copper pipes I will have to re upholster or patch up. I knew it would end like that but it's nice wishing for a easy ride.

Take A pillar interior off to search for cable runs. Luckily I find some wires
6111_car 13.jpg

I'm hoping one of these is a 12v ignition supply (hopefully electric sunroof) Hopefully that I can splice the screen into.

As I want to keep as much boot space as possible, I have decided to place the amp and car pc here, I will build a mdf box around the pc, and mount the amp on top. With some spacers for air flow underneath amp.

Unfortunately that's all I got time for as I got called away to see transformers and Simpson's before a house party. Just got back know and can't sleep. so sorry if it's a bit like drunk writing.

I'd be concerned that you've removed a lot of material and added weight. Will be neat if it all works out though.

It should be ok, when I fix the screen in, the screen it self should add the strength back in *crosses fingers*. unfortunately I'm still drunk so doesn't look like I'll be able to do anything today (tools are round parents house). Damn house partys.

the screen appeared to have some cooling vents in the back.
have you left any ventilation in the back of the visor for this?

Yep I've had to remove the back fabric as well, the screen was to thick to fit in without removing it.

does anyone know what those wires are? or where I can get an electrical diagram. The work shop manual doesn't appear to include one.

The wires look a bit to thin to power an electric motor, maybe there for the interior lights

if there's a haynes manual for your car, that will tell you what the wires are.

but to be honest you are better off running a fresh 12v line off either the battery, or a main power cable near the fuse box (add an inline fuse as well)

Install day 2 (actual day 3 due to Sunday hangover)

Well After working ll day I didn't feel like stripping *** car down to run the cables. So instead I got the MDF and set to work, creating the enclosure for the boot.

I marked up the mdf base, with the rubber I had to cut out, so that I can still get to the spare wheel.

unfortunately I don't own a circular saw, so In a fit of genius thought. i nailed on a straight piece of wood as a guide for the jigsaw.

It's very impressive but where/why are you going to watch TV in your car? Surely thats only any use if your ideal evening involves sitting in your car all night not moving at the local retail park?

or perhaps it's for a mp3 collection/ sat nav..

if you notice the pc doesn't even have a cd player :p

I thought that but the TFT mounted in the drivers sunvisor threw me :p

I didn't want to mess around with the air vents, also I don't want the screen left on display where I live. So it looked liked the perfect place. Time will tell though.
