Any carpet fitters on here?
£2.50/sqm the going rate?
re underlay would that be included in the fitting price or should I lay that myself first? (obv may differ wanting opinions from carpet fitters if there are any here)

Also any recommendations on underlay?
Im lookin at some cheapo PU atm(£22/15sqm), not lookin at stayin at this place for much longer than another year or so so not wanting to spend the earth.

Cheap underlay at £22 per sq m?

Even if you meant carpet then a waste of money unless you intend to take it with you.

If moving out in a year then buy the cheapest underlay possible as you won't care that it shortens your carpet life.

Same with the carpet. You can find some great carpet for under £10 a sq/m

A good money saving tip for you, if they are using carpet grippers then buy them yourself as you will save a lot of money compared to what the carpet fitters will charge you for them.

And as for charge it depends where in the country you are. Last carpet we had fitted was £50 for 25 sq m so about £2/sq m.

Have you considered carpet tiles?

We got some at the weekend to redo our spare room and personally I think they look good. It's not obvious that it's tiles as opposed to actual carpet and works out significantly cheaper. Also they're easy to transport home and fit yourself.

edit:

I read it as £22 for 15 sq m.
