What's traditionally the case here with carpet companies who supply and fit, do they want everything upfront prior to fitting, or 50% upfront and 50% on completion?

Just looking into this at the moment, it's the entire house so it's quite a significant amount.

Depends if you are financing it or not. Finance will just be a small deposit, otherwise it will be 100% upfront.

You may need to pay the fitter separately if they are 'self-employed' and they'll want cash on the day.

Hmm interesting. We've used a local carpet supplier / fitter for various jobs over the past 3 years and it's always been 10% deposit and the rest once completed.

Yea my experience it's like £100 deposit rest on completion.

My experience of floor fitters in general is that they are ******* useless *****. So very definitely dont pay up front.

One of our good friends works in the industry and we've had various carpets from them. Have always paid upfront for the carpet and the fitter when hes finished

Invoiced and paid after install in whole. Local reputable company who never asked for deposit and were professional throughout and use local fitters who they pay so we just pay 1 invoice.

Just had 2 rooms and hall, stairs landing done

bloke comes and measures, comes back and fits them, pay him when he's done, never asked for a penny before

Bought ours from a local independent store. He had it own team to fit them. We then popped to the store a few days later to pay him. 100% on completion.
