In England, carrier bag charges have been in place for almost 6 years. So why do some people still never bring their own bags? Understand if they bought more than they planned or found an item of clothing. It’s the same people each time (at my work) that do this.

The reason I brought this up as went into another supermarket this morning and the supermarket had none of the bags for life - as on the ambient delivery which deliveries are all over the place due to pinggate and shortage in drivers. They only had the large shopper bags.

Customers who didn’t bring bags were kicking off. It’s the stupid people that don’t bring bags’ fault, not the supermarket.

On stopping at some traffic lights, by a council block of flats, bins overflowing with brand new carrier bags as rubbish bags. Do these idiots know it’s cheaper to buy black sacks (about a third cheaper) and bigger? Is there a stigma on reusing bags in certain groups?

How much money are these people wasting? Ten bags at 20p each per week, that’s £104 a year.

Myself have only bought about 10 bags since charge when I bought a coat and a couple of times, my bag broke and it was from a different supermarket.

I have bags full of the damn things because my brother does his shopping after work, and doesn't have the foresight to lug a carrier bag around with him all day!

Some people are just not organised, don't care about the planet, happy to pay the cost, stuck in their ways, etc. It's that simple. Not everyone is the same.

I sometimes re-use bags (my boot is full of them), other times I haven't got one with me and it's unplanned purchase that I can't carry. Oh well.

We have those trolley bag things. Similar to these:

We plonk them in a trolley, pick up a scanner and pack as we shop.

There have been occasions where we've forgot to pick them up but no issue as we just take the trolley to the car and put them in the boot loose, vunerable items go in the empty compartment of my boot-tidy.

Also another fun fact - the carrier bag charge was introduced for single use plastic bags only.

Retailers can still give free carrier bags as long as they are a bit thicker and reusable, but nowhere seems to do this.

OP, have you considered a career change? Your current employment only seems to serve to push up your blood pressure.

I try and keep a few bags in the car boot to avoid buying more, but occasionally forget to replenish the boot supply and have to begrudgingly resort to buying more.

These look great, we shop online but I'd definitely buy a set of these if we reverted to doing the weekly run.

Wales had a carrier bag charge for a while, so I'm used to it. I keep a few bags for life in the car, and generally have a small rucksack with me.

I get annoyed with myself when I have to pay for bags, as it's just clutter I don't need.
