Carroll and England

He is not better than Rooney, Crouch, Defoe or Bent so he would not be picke din my initial list.

He would probably make into my backup list though. Would give him a try in a friendly.

He's not great but Crouch gets picked because he's big and can head the ball, except he barely jumps and can't head. Carroll is a better target man than Crouch because, well, at least once in his career I've seen Carroll actually put in a power header that looked like the result of a footballer.

Its not that Carroll is the best player int he world, its that Capello seems intent on taking a "big man" for upfront to most games, is Carroll potentially the best big man we can choose, sure is, should he be taken because he's a violent little thug, probably not.

Was Marlon King eligible for England before he started playing for Jamaica, I'm under the impression he was born/grew up here, I think for a thug 11 someone really dropped the ball in letting Jamaica sign him up.

I quite like that the bottom result on page one when searching google for

"football players with criminal records" is how to become a football agent.

Jamie Lawrence is another one Jamaica stole from England, born and raised here, played all over, did 4 years for armed Robbery before he became a footballer.

Another goal against Blackburn. Pity about the flaky overall team performance. Disregarding off the field he more than deserves a call up. Playing better than any other English striker in the league on current form.

They are all prats off the pitch so don't see shy it should effect his chances. Dear me whoever said Wellbeck is better needs their head checked out.

Was going to say Bardsley for the thug team but he's recently decided he was scottish, akin to admitting you are not good enough for real international footie.

Yeah, as Jakeke, Gyan's barely played and might have 4 goals already, Welbeck is utter rubbish.

Welbeck 633 minutes, 1 assist total. Gyan, 375 minutes, 4 goals, his first start was against Stoke, in two starts, he's scored 3 goals.

I'll give you one thing though, I think Welbeck commited the single most ridiculous dive this season, so he's got that going for him, asides from that.......

Weak passer, poor vision, not a lot of pass, poor finishing, no strength, I very much doubt he'll be playing in the premiership in the next couple years, so far I've seen little to suggest he'll settle in the Championship, he might end up lower than that. I think Chadwick showed more ability than Welbeck did.

blind united fan!

Welbeck has done nothing to prove his place, Carroll is having an OK start to the season so why not?

Welbeck has had more chances than Gyan, and Gyan is still doing better.

Also, Carroll should get called up if he carries on as he is IMO. If Terry and Rooney (among many others) can keep their place with their off-field stuff, then it shouldn't affect anyone else either.

Can I just take a moment to say 'lol'?

Someone who beats women up shouldn't be given the priveledge to represent their country in anything, except most expedient hanging. Let alone the football side.

One More Solo, what point are you making?

Carroll: 12 starts, 7 goals, 4 assists, how many other players in the league have stats comparable to that? I doubt there's many Man U players never mind Man U loanees.

You think Wellbeck having one good game justifies his selection ahead of Carroll?

Danny Welbeck... Jesus. :D

Hopefully United staff are cosmetically altering Citeh's ground to resemble Old Trafford as we speak so he wanders in at the end of his loan spell and stays there.

Never seen so many failed runs at a defence since the Somme... whoops. :o

I think he's "okay", he seems to be an appalling character away from football, makes you wonder why he's employed at a football club.

Suppose that's what happens when you have no footballing soul as a club.
