Cartridge v Ink Tank Printer

I need to get a new printer as the one I have is currently not working properly, and does not recognise ink cartridges anymore.

I don't need an all singing all dancing one, just a fairly basic one for the occasional print at home, so it wont be used a huge amount.

Printer cartridges always seem to be quite expensive so I was wondering if the ink tank printers would be a better option where you refill the ink tanks?

I have not purchased a printer for years as most of the time I can get documents printed at work, so Im a bit out of the loop on what good with home printers nowadays?

Thanks

Depending on the type of prints you want to do you'd probably be better off with colour laser printer.....

Both types of ink printers have the potential to dry up or clog up if not used reguarly and the cleaning process usually drains ink more than printing does....

If you want to print pictures however I'd still say go inkjet, my personal preference is Canon and I make sure each colour has it's own cartridge because it reduces overall costs to run etc.
