Howdy. Got myself a 2gb geil value kit to add to the 1gb geil value already in my system (EPOX 9NPA ULTRA X2 3800) last week and its messed up the memory timings. I know they are suppposed to run 2T with four sticks but why has it reduced the CAS and the Frequency of the ram? Will the speed of the system be effected much because of the lower CAS and Frequency?

On a side note will overclocking the cpu be any harder because of me having 4 sticks rather than the 2?

cheers.

You have to run all the memory at the same timing, and the 2gig Geil value kit is rated CAS 3.0 8-4-4 @ DDR400 PC3200

Of course there is nothing to stop you manually specifying the CL, why not try cas2.5 and see if that's stable?

why do you need 3 gig of ram?

I would get rid of the 1 gig and run the 2 gig at 1T on its own. my old geil value 2 gig kit did 220 mhz at 2.5,3,3,7 timings.

I do a lot of 3d work so a lot of RAM is essential, but I may consider running just the 2gb. Got it all running at CAS2.5 and got the Frequency now to 187mhz by overclocking the cpu too 2200mhz, seems stable but will ned to test it properly later. Thanks for your help.
