Trying to decide what memory to use for my upgrade. So far all I know is that the smaller the CAS Timings the faster the memory. I know that this is not always the case and would like to know what other data about the memory is necesary to determin how well it will perform in your system? Is it just a matter of bench mark results or is there more in it than that?

Would appreciate some reliable sources for bench test results for memory at stock and overclocked.

Thanks! You guys are great! :)

Wow! looks pretty detailed! Might take a while to read it but exactly what I was looking for! :)

Any good/reliable benchmark sites would be much appreciated aswell! Thanks :)

If you read reviews, then don't take much notice of the overclocking bit. Memory manufacturers swap the ICs they use in the ram all the time. So the review sample might of had good quality ICs, but you ones you get might have crap ones.

Check 1st online the fastest speed your motherboard supports, then do the same with your cpu, it is daft to buy the fastest, low latency ram if you cannot run it at its rated speed.

As above have a look at reviews with the same chipset as you are using to give you a guide as to how far you can go.

I use Samsung green at tight timings rather than my 2400 at cas 11 and it is quicker in benchmarks, but I do not really feel the difference in games anymore.
