Using an Antec 300/900 as an example.

Bottom mounted psu type.

ok i under stand the top and rear case fans are exhaust so they blow the hot air out, the front 2/3 fans are intake , draw the air in.

The part I need help advice with are the side panel and PSU.

Does a psu with single fan like the corsair range draw air in or blow out of the psu housing. there fore when mounted at the bottom whats the correct way to mount the psu?

also does the side panel fan , is this best to use as an intake or exhaust for best air flow, draw heat away from cpu and graphics , or blow more cooler air around them??

Thanks

Bowza

I would mount the PSU so you got the fan on the top as i see no point of having it facing down. I would also put the fans on the side so that they blow air on graphics and cpu leave the exhausts on the top and back to take the hot air out

With the antec 300/900/1200 cases having many intake fans at the front and exhaust at the back/top I would put the PSU with the fan facing up so it can take in plenty of air and exhaust it out the back, not much of a gap if it was facing down. The side fan (usually optional?) can help cool graphics cards a bit more if needed.

yep psu fan on top and it will be blowing air out of the case, the side panels should be drawing air into the case, on to the pci slots/mobo.

thanks, so the PSU fan draws air into the psu chassis first then pushes it over the psu components then out of the chassis into the main case space.

Thanks
