hi,

just wondering what you guys think the best fan setup for my kit would be?
I have an Antec 300 case and a Corsair H50-1. I'm i'll have two 120mm fans at the front to suck air in. There is also a 140mm fan on the top, should this be sucking in or blowing out? And should the Corsair H50-1 radiator fan be sucking in or blowing out? At the moment i'm thinking using the 140mm fan to suck in and the H50-1 fan to suck out. Do you think this is efficient?

thanks for any help.

Top two fans (140 &120) should be exhaust. Heat will be rising from all your components, wanting to escape at the top.
Your front ones should be as you have them- intakes, coolest air is always closest to the floor.

I'd be tempted to cut a hole in the top of the case and mount your rad to the inside with the fan pushing air through from behind it.

Intake fans should suck cool air in, so you front two should definately pull air into the case. Top fan should be exhaust. The suggestion from jeckulz is good. ideally you want hot air being blown out the case via the radiator of the H50-1 so if you could cut a hole on the top that'll be awesome and still put a 120mm exhuast fan on the back of the case. If that too much effort / hassle mount the rad on the back with fan blowing air out of the case.

Ive got just one front 120mm as an intake, the top 140mm as an exhaust and the H50 on the rear 120mm as an intake, works fine for me. Although i plan to swap the H50 to an exhaust and see how it affects temps.

I have the two front fans blowing in, the side fan blowing in. the top 140mm on low setting blowing out. the H50 is mounted to the rear fan with an extra 120mm fan mounted to the rad both blowing out. I tried quite a few configurations but this gave the best results for me...

Swapped the H50 fan over today and as an exhaust my temps under load after 10 mins were 6c higher than when it was an intake, also made the case louder as the top fan and the H50 fan were fighting for the same air.

Its now back as an intake, its the coolest and quietest way

Some good advice has already been said so I'll just re-iterate;

I have 2x 120mm fans on my H50 Rad at the moment (the stock fan and a stock coolremaster fan that came with my case). Both of these are intakes and keep the CPU (i5 @ stock) at around 25degrees idling.
I'm impressed with the H50 as a whole...

As said top fans should be exhaust to suck all the warm air OUT of the case.. intakes should be at the front or bottom.
If you have a bottom mounted PSU - a bottom intake fan might not be the best idea as it may just suck in all the warm air that the PSU is giving out.

Im awaiting an order for some fans so will report back with findings.

Fans are Sharkoon Silent Eagles btw. ;)

Personally i dont see the need for 2 fans on the H50, one works fine on mine.

Its also worth noting, when i swapped my H50 to an exhaust the rad was warm to the touch, as with an intake its always cold, i think you need a balanced air flow, with the top fan, psu fan and H50 fan blowing out its noisey as there's not enough air being put into the case with the one front intake fan, creating a negative pressure case.

Just turning the H50 fan to an intake balances it all up, lowers temps and keeps everything quiet.
Works on my case and id suggest you give it a go, why have more fans than you need???

I loose around 5.c having 2 fans. Also on my case it made no difference having the H50 blowing in or out. I do have 3 120mm intake fans though so lots of cold air going into the case. Different setups work for different cases and setups just trying to find what works best for you..

This fan on mine blows cold air almost directly at the H50

See i only have one front intake fan on my Antec 300, i also have 3 SSD's tucked under the dvd drive so there's not really any point in having 2 front fans, its just extra noise.

Im happy with temps so its stayin as it is.
