Yay! Finally got the funds to get a new Case to replace my tacky horrible Soprano :D

I've set a budget of £100.00 for the case only. Fans / WC gear will come later.

Im after a case that has great functionality - look's are not that important to me really, but function takes precedence over form.

My current system feels like a hot potato, so I'm looking for good air flow and good cooling from my new case. Ideally, I want to be rid of the pants BigWater SE system I have now and I'm looking at a custom W/C setup. This will be atleast a 120.2, perhaps even a 120.3.

A slidy motherboard tray would be handy for me. Something easy to mod too as dependant on the case I may have to mod a Radiator into it.

Cases that are DEFINITLY off the list:
Thermaltake Armor, Kandalf, Armor LCS and Kandlaf LCS ... in fact any Thermaltake case, really.

Suggestions please :D

Akasa Eclipse

I thought I was gonna regret spending that much money on a case with a window and thermal side panel but tbh I havent even needed to put the side panel with the fan on I would give it 8/10 (Would have been 9 apart from the top being a bit weak if you apply any pressure you can feel it press in).

Still it is a smashing case.

All I need to get my CPU low is a HS and Fan other than the stock one as its been losing effectiveness lately lol but idle I get temps of around 32-37 thats with the fans at 10% no need to turn them up til I do something.

Akasa Eclipse is a very popular choice and excellent for the price, imagine you'll hear a few more suggestions for this. If you want to go a little over budget a Lian-Li V1000+ is solid and just stupidly functional.

I've used both of those and love them both.

Both will take a 120.2 system. 120.3 would be a struggle but I'd ask if you genuinely need .3 (so many people think they do, when it is just overkill or due to flow does nothing for their system temps above and beyond .2).

I have a hot Presler 945 clocked at 4.5Ghz at present along with two baking X1900GTs in crossfire, so I'd like the best performance I can get out of my WC while still being quiet... thus I was thinking of a 120.3.

But then again, with a 120.2 I have one less fan noise to worry about.

So, if I go for a Eclipse 62 and window, and later a 120.2 Rad, where will it fit ? In the roof ? Anywhere else ??

could use one of those swiftec rear mount 120.2 rads or something?

must admit if i where in your boots i would be tempted to go for a 120.3 - but i *doubt* your gonna find any case with enough room for under £100 :) anyway, akasa eclipse is stunning case 9.99999/10 for me :)

Well, What about a normal 120.2 ? Would that be roof mountable in an Eclipse ? I've just measured my PSU at 140mm long, so give or take an extra 30mm (170mm total) for cabling how much room does that leave internally on the roof for a Rad ?

What other options are there for 120.2/120.3 rads ?????? Forgetting about budget for the moment.

pcknight, your a genius!!

Would the G70 or even the original PC 70 server cases do the job?

The only thought is drilling/cutting a brand new Lian Li Aluminium case *shock horror! *

Where's Yewen when I need his opinion ...
