We listened to what you have been saying and added a select range of cases to our PC Builder in the Gamer and Overclocked Range.

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/syscon_category.php?groupid=43&catid=1077

Case choices, so far, include;
  • Antec Nine Hundred - OcUK's tried & tested gaming case
  • Antec P182
  • Thermaltake Super Tower VA8003BWS
  • Thermaltake Junior VC3000BWS
  • Coolermaster Cosmos RC-1000
  • Coolermaster Cosmos Sport (as pictured above)

Use the finance options and there's nothing to pay for up to 12 months!!

Case choices to follow on the preconfigured ranges shortly....

A lot of people struggle to manage their money well, and this kind of offer often draws those same people in to spending money they haven't got.

Understood.

My goal is to make OcUK the place it used to be by offering choice, value for money, reliable information and first to market for superb products.

Inevitably that may motivate our valued customers to buy something extra...clearly however, we wouldn't wish anyone to overstretch themselves beyond their means.

If Buy Now Pay Later means a problem in 12 months choose classic finance over 36 or 48 months...

For example; the Ultima OC 8800GTX SLI" Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.40GHz @ QX6950+ 3.30GHz+ Quad Core SILENT DDR2 System would cost a mere £38 per month over 48 months.

Hopefully Finance gives folk choices that they otherwise wouldn't have had!

Cheers

Wow, I hadn't ever seen the PC builder, and the customisable options. I'd just like to say that I think it's excellent.

If you're a student stay away from the finance offer, once you make your purchases and start filling in the forms it asks for occupation and income. Even if you have an income as a student they still refuse the credit and you're stuck with a half filled in application and an order, both can't be cleared without talking to both companies.

Glad you like it - its our first attempt - lots of upgrades still to make.

Interested in hearing any constructive feedback to make it better...

Can you order a custom built PC and then pick it up in store or is it delivery only? I ask because for me picking it up in store would be far easier as OcUK is literally 5 minutes up the road. In fact, I bet I could shout my order, on a quite day of course, instead of going through he website. :p

yer if you orderd a computer give it a day, you can come and collect it. a few are sold this way.

That's the downside of finance. Or you could just spend your freebie months saving up the dosh. ( i take it the buy now pay later is a 0% system? )

Buy now and pay in 6 or 12 months is excatly that - pay in 6 or 12 months - all you pay is a 10% deposit and a document fee of £20 or £40 respectively - & no interest on the payment as long as you pay it off within the allotted time period.

Cheers:)

But if you forget to pay it off in the interest free period do you get locked into a mental repayment scheme? I'm sure some other buy now pay later things work like that.

I only have a problem with offering stuff on finance because it's stupid people or poorer people that get ripped off, just seems a bit harsh really :\. I understand you're merely offering a service, you're aren't forcing anyone to do this, but doesn't it take advantage of people that don't understand everything properly, or desperate people? I dunno, people need to protected from stuff like this sometimes, they can't protect themselves. Meh.

Hi, I see your point and we're certainly not here to create a debt mountain as that's good for no-one.

The vetting procedure is pretty thorough so it is unlikely to accept people who are at risk of getting in to major trouble.

:)

I think finance on pc's is silly. Noones going to spend 2 or 3 years paying off a uber gaming rig thats outdated after 1 year.

Still I can see why you offer it and if it gets money in to your pockets thats all that matters

Like it. Perhaps links back from the choices to the individual product page could be useful to save time, or make the image change to actually represent the selection.

Like nobody buys stuff out of catalogues like shoes etc which have worn out before people even start paying for them on the buy now pay leter schemes?

It's an easy option for people who can't afford to pay a lump some, myself though wouldn't get finance like that but for some it's an only option.
