Just a quick question, on the front of some cases there is a metal mesh covering the fans so I am wondering is it safe to hover the dust off the mesh?

yea it fine as long as it the outside i know ppl that did the the inside and corsed all sort of problams

I also use a hoover on mine too......but Only the mesh on the front of it while its not attached...And for all the other parts ( mesh) I use an old soft paint brush

I didn't do mine for ages and now theres some horrible thick brown dust on my front case mesh.

I googled and lots of results about it being caused by smoking cigarrettes at the pc but no one in my family smokes.

It seems completely impossible to shift, any ideas?

you can buy cans of compressed air for this specific purpose, check on ebay they're usually about 4-5 quid and are excellent for ridding dust and built up grime, added bonus is there is no direct contact so no static/chance of damaging your hardware.

1 Can won't last all that long, they are good, but if the dust it really thick it wont shift it all. But removing most is certainly better than nothing.

If the dust is really clogged up I usually dismantle the whole case and give it a bath to soak out all the grime.

Just make sure you dry each piece thoroughly and you'll be surprised at how new it looks afterwards!

Yeah I made sure the PC was turned off and it was only the outside, its literally just the front were 3 fans are no components really near by.
