Case cooling fan suggestions...

Hi.

I'm looking at getting a case fan (or two) for my wife's PC as I think it might be overheating now and then, thus causing crashes/lockups.

I'm not looking at overclocking or anything like that, just some simple, inexpensive cooling. I was thinking along the lines of a fan/s or an extractor fan (I've used them in the past but I'm a bit unsure as to whether or not they are really any good).

Any help or suggestions would be great. I'll most likely just get them from here at OcUK so if you could point me towards any recommended products that would be super. :D

Thanks

What size? 120mm will be quieter and move more air than smaller ones, yate loons are the favorites at the moment

Thanks JonJ678

I'm thinking one large fan as opposed to a bunch of smaller ones. I'm also guessing that would also require less power consumption??

One in the front to pull in cold air and one at the back to exhaust it would be good - as JonJ678 says, 120mm is a good size if the case can take them, and then what do you want to pay - Noctua cost a lot but are very quiet - is noise a problem ? With the Noctua fans you get a couple of speed restricers that will make the fan slower and even quieter and can be fitted or removed as you wish. though I believe you can buy them seperately to fit almost any other fan.
Guess you need to look at prices and think about noise - you can get 2 fans from as little as about 12 pounds, or pay about 18 each.
Here are two extremes, both seem highly rated, though my experience is with Noctua so can't tell you much about the other..

I've got some Yate Loons 'SM' 120mm fans running at 5v with using a 3pin - molex adapter, move a fair amount of air, are CHEAP and are pretty quiet too. Though I'm aware they don't sell them in OcUK.

The simplest, and effective, solution, would be for one intake fan and one exhaust fan to get a nice airflow going. All for a tenner!

Thanks for all the info. I'm probably looking at spending around £10-20.

I'll have a look at all your suggestions.

Thanks again :D
