hiya,

it's me yet again!

i have everything i need to build my new pc, apart from one thing. Case fans!!.i have a cosmos s case and obviously it comes with fans supplied, but i wanted to add some more fans for extra cooling. but here is where the confusion sets in (for a complete amateur like me anyway). what type of fans do i need? i have two intake fans, one on the side of the case and one in the front, so will the rest need to be exhaust fans, or do you just buy any fan you like, and set it up to be intake or exhaust?, sorry to sound like a complete muppet but i genuinely don't know.

and thank you for taking the time to reply :D

for case fans i like the scythe juani 1900s ..but only if you have a fan controller as they ar e load at full speed...but have the extra ummph when needed.

if you want cheep but good go for yate loons if you want silent the noctuas usually come out on top....ive spent more on fans than have cases over the last couple of years :(

Any fan u buy can be used as intake or outake, it depends on how u fit it.

If u have the fan with the sticker (name of fan and stuff), facing out that will usually mean that it is sucking air out/blowing out, switch it around and it will be sucking air in.

It is usually best to try and have more fans blowing outwards then you have sucking in, to form a negative pressure.

For example if you have 2 intakes, best to have 3 outs, but then again it is allways best to perform your own tests, that suit your own setup.

thank you :D i was going to order 4 120mm fans and fit three to the top and one on the bottom, but i'm not too sure whether i need the fan on the bottom, but a little research should help me with that :D

I have a Cosmos 'S' and used the following as a guide.

There is a bracket available for the bottom fan intake which directs the airflow onto the mobo / graphics.

You could also try fitting some Scythe Kama-Bay System/Hard Drive Coolers.

I also fitted a Zalman ZM-MFC1 Plus Black Multi Fan Controller (Clicky) and some Akasa AK-274CR-4RDS 120mm Red LED Fans (Clicky).

I'm considering a Zalman Reserator XT Hybrid Liquid Cooling System for sometime in the future.

Additional case fans will almost certainly only recirculate ambient air and cause additional noise. There is a natural tendency to think that filling the case with fans will improve cooling, but it generally doesn't, it just increases noise.

I've got the exact same case, but i've set all my fans as intake haha!

I did have it like the diagram suggested, but i thought i'd try something different to see any differences.

As fas as i can tell, they perform exactly the same, maybe even 1-2c cooler on the cpu with everything set to intake.

It's personal preference and experimentation.
