If I've got a triple rad up front with three fans pushing in plus a double rad up top with two fans pushing out, do I need a rear exhaust case fan?

It could be a perfect spot for my res but unsure whether sensible or not?

Well no one is shouting idiot at me so I'm going to take that as a 'sure, go for it, it will be fine' :D

Always better to have more air going in than coming out (positive pressure), so personally I've got 3 fans + rad on front bringing air in, then 2 fans + rad up top taking it out plus an exhaust fan on the back. Got it set so the 3 on the front always spin faster than the 2 up top, with the exhaust running extremely slowly just to help remove a bit of heat from inside the case. Hope this helps :)

Could be a case of suck it and see. If your temps improve and your noise is not significantly greater, then go with it.

The additional fan will decrease internal pressure, which is better for your triple inlet rad but worse for your double outlet rad.

Thanks. Hopefully I won't need to remove it if there's space between the window and the GPU block, but it will be tight so just planning other options in case.

IDIOT... IDIOT... IDIOT... !!!!!!
Sorry, but you did say... :p

Depends what res you have.
EKWB have a number of funky res mounting options, including a fan one - Affixes to/behind/through a fan or fan mounting point.
So you could have the res inside and the fan outside, pulling in exhaust, with the screws going through the mount, case and then into the fan itself. Bit fiddly to make alterations perhaps, but it'd work.
I have case, then fan outside, then 120mm rad, with w/c tubes going back inside the case. However, it's a small Corsair 500R and that was the only way to mount both fan and such an oversized rad - Any other point or configuration was just that annoyingly little bit too tight! :)

^This, pretty much.

In theory, the whole positive pressure thing works, but there are so many variables between individual builds that could affect things, some quite noticably.
For example, I have 2 front intakes, 2 top exhausts and one rear exhaust. All exhausts vent through w/c rads.
I also found a lot of air was wasted because it tumbled around the HDD cage, GPU and even off some cables, instead of circulating nicely around the case like the diagrams said.

However, I get better temps with the added 2 intakes on the side panel, not through positive pressure, but because they're focussed directly onto things like the RAM and VRM/heatsinks.

Certainly try it, swap different fan types around (if you have different case, airflow, SP and so on), maybe have all intaking like some do, or even all exhausting.
It's kind-of an exact science, but one we can only be very vague with... Most people would swear my setup is ridiculous, and yet I consider 25ºC internal temp to be unusually high!

Yeh I asked for that really :D

It is an EK Res. I've seen that 120mm fan mount as well, didn't think of that! Good shout. There's enough room to have both fan and res mounted inside as well.

I think I'll experiment
