Hi all:

Recently I took the opportunity to upgrade my long-serving C2D pc which had a nice, stable overclock of 3.1 ghz for the past 2 years.

I bought a new case as the old chenbro gaming bomb was a bit pushed for space when a modern gfx card plus all the cabling was inserted.

Anyway, this new gigabyte case comes with a few fans as standard. The front are 2 x 120mm and then there's a (possibly) 80mm exhaust fan plus a top fan , also 120 mm.

Anyway, the front two fans plus the exhaust fan end in molex connectors. The front two, for lack of a better word, daisy chain into one connector with 2 male pins and the rear one has 2 connectors - one female, one male with 3 pins.

The molex connector i have for my psu has four male pins which is unhelpful for starters so somehow I need to convert the adaptor.

#1 is there an adaptor that can do male to female - everything I've seen is female to 3/4 pin to attach directly to the mother board.

#2 Should I just buy the converters that attach these fans to the motherboard, rather than trying to connect them direct to the psu with a molex connector? (I should point out that the front two fans have switches on the bezel of the case to turn them on or off - would a motherboard connection be appropriate in this case?)

#3 If I do, somehow manage to get them connected to the psu - as they seem to have 3 or 2 pins and my connectors to the psu will have 4 holes, are they likely to just blow up, spin round the room and kill someone, final destination stylee?

Sorry for the long post!

For not a lot more money than the cost of adapters you could just buy some new quiet fans. The fans included with cases generally aren't that good and if they are running at full speed which they will off molex will be quite loud.
